A unique and time-tested program for children who are beginning their journey in art. Fun and simultaneously instructive, these classes feature games and puzzles to support the development of color theory, composition, and other classical elements of realistic art. Kids work step-by-step on a single subject, like a cat, or place that cat in an environment. Students learn to craft complex subjects from simple shapes. Subjects range from animals to fantasy, ocean, abstract, flowers, and other fun topics. Classes feature various media, introducing kids to watercolors, acrylics, pastels, oil, pastel, and more. We offer a rotating curriculum of content, keeping kids engaged and learning new topics in Kids 2 for at least four semesters. After this, we recommend enrolling in the Drawing or Painting class.

A natural progression of topics covered in Kids 2, this class develops on color theory, composition, and construction. Subjects are more complex, and kids pay more attention to proportions and shadows, learn perspective, and aerial perspective. In these classes, kids begin to use their artist’s eye to see the shapes and colors of what they intend to draw or paint. Kids 3 prepares children for the study of light and shadow that lies at the core of our academic method. This class covers various media. We provide a rotating curriculum of content, keeping kids engaged and learning new topics in Kids 3 for at least 4 semesters, after which we recommend taking the Drawing or Painting class.
