TS Portrait
Ages 12-18
8 weeks, 5-15 students
The human face - its diversity and emotion - has long captivated artists. Capturing the human face can be difficult but is truly rewarding and, with practice, can lead to breathtaking pieces. Our portraiture classes follow the academic method of the study of form and of light and shadow: learn to understand the face through its anatomy, structure, motion, and texture. This class will focus on depicting the entire portrait and sometimes delve into deeper studies of the eyes, nose, lips, etc. Students will study from plaster casts, photography, and live models. This class is extremely useful for students wishing to put together an AP Studio Art Portfolio.

TS Watercolor
Ages 12-18
8 weeks, 5-15 students
Open to all students. Explore many watercolor-specific techniques, play with colors, and learn to use the water to your advantage. This class is meant as both a complementary study to TS: Painting, and a stand-alone way to begin your watercolor journey. Though less extensively, we will cover fine art theory such as composition, construction, and narrative, while focusing more on watercolor techniques such as washes, gradients, segments, and layers, with advanced students focusing on light/dark, contrast and color, and object definition. Great for students looking to just try watercolors, continue with their art education, and for those pursuing graphic design, animation, architecture, and illustration, among other fields. Students create various works in different themes and with a variety of subjects.
